Certified Nurse Midwife Roxanne Estes
My Story

I believe that every birth is unique and unrepeatable therefore I have developed a unique birthing practice that honors a woman's wisdom along her innate knowledge of her body that  enables her the full capacity to bring forth new life.

I honor and value the normal transitions in women's' lives. I support women through menarche (a woman's first period), sexual awareness, contraception, preconception, pregnancy, birthing and postpartum care.

I strive to provide Woman's Care that empowers women in  by meeting their physical and emotional needs, while honoring the mind body connection.

I strive to provide awareness in the form of health education throughout the normal transitions in women's lives.

I value women as true partners in their care and strive to include women in the decision making process in all aspects of their care.

I value preventative health and strive to offer evidenced based care, understanding that each woman is unique and what's right for one woman may not be right for another.

Community Education Project  2016

I am a Mother. I am a Grandmother. I am a Midwife.

I became a midwife after the birth of my 4th child feeling compelled to help women experience safe and satisfying births. I have dedicated the majority of my lifetime working with women, babies and families. I started on my path towards  becoming a midwife through traditional apprenticeship training which taught me the true meaning of normal physiologic birth and how women labor and birth without medical intervention. This traditional way of midwifery training gave me a strong foundation and trust in normal birthing ways.

I have always advocated for good midwifery care but found that women's rights in childbirth and the availability of midwives hampered by the legal status of midwives in many states. Personally I felt compelled to increase access to midwifery care. I started on a path  to formalize my midwifery training and am currently licensed in the state of Hawaii as a Certified Nurse Midwife and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.Practitioner with a solo private practice.

To date I have completed over 10 years of training and education to enhance my midwifery career. I have worked as a midwife for over 35 years and have attended over 1500 births to date. I have worked in clinics, homes, hospitals and birth centers.

I love birth where ever women give birth. I honor women's choices in childbirth and strive to provide evidenced based care whenever possible. I understand that every woman is unique, therefore I assist each of the women I serve to develop a safe, satisfying and individualized plan for birth and/ or  health care
